Frequently asked questions

Certified translation and notarization

What is a certified translation and when do I need one?

A certified translation is a translation accompanied by a formal statement from a qualified translator or agency confirming its accuracy and completeness. In the context of Russia, certified translations must also be notarized, meaning a notary verifies the translator's signature and credentials. It is required when Russian authorities request an official translation of documents such as civil registry records (birth, marriage, and death), medical documents and certificates, administrative and court decisions, administrative documents, and certified copies of passports and identity cards.

What is an apostille and do I need one?

An apostille is an official authentication that makes a document issued in one country legally recognized in another, under the Hague Convention. For documents submitted to Russian authorities, a Greek document typically requires an apostille before the certified translation can be accepted. We provide certified translations, including notarization of the translator’s signature. Where required, we can also assist with obtaining an apostille from the relevant Greek authorities.

Can you translate from Russian into Greek with full certification?

Yes. We provide certified translations in both directions: from Greek, Albanian, Italian, and English into Russian, and from Russian into Greek. Both directions include notarization where required.

My previous translation was rejected by Russian authorities. Can you help?

Yes, this is one of the most common reasons clients come to us. Rejected translations are usually the result of errors in terminology, name transliteration, or non-compliance with Russian documentation standards. We review the original translation, identify the problems, and produce a corrected certified version that meets the requirements.

How do you calculate the price for a certified translation?

We price certified translations by the page. One page equals 1,800 characters including spaces. Send us your document or page count and we will provide a quote in EUR or USD. Notarization of the translator’s signature and, where requested, assistance with obtaining an apostille from the competent Greek authorities are charged separately, including any applicable consular or administrative fees.

General translation and language services

Which languages do you work with?

Our core language pairs are Greek, Russian, Albanian, Italian, and English. We work in all combinations between these languages and can accommodate additional languages for larger projects. Contact us to discuss your specific requirements.

How long does a translation take?

Turnaround depends on the volume, language pair, and type of content. We confirm exact timelines when we provide a quote and we keep to them. For urgent requests, contact us directly to discuss what is possible.

Do I need to visit your office?

No. We work entirely remotely. You can send documents by email or via any of our messaging channels. Completed translations are delivered digitally, or by courier if you need physical copies.

What is machine translation post-editing and how is it different from full translation?

Machine translation post-editing, or MTPE, starts with a machine-generated translation and has a human editor correct and refine it to a professional standard. It is faster and more cost-effective than full human translation and works well for high-volume content such as product manuals, reports, and websites. Full human translation is the better choice for sensitive, complex, or legally significant texts. We will recommend the right approach based on your content and requirements.
